Primer Overview ~ Eyes

8/27/13

A few posts back I did a lengthy overview of all the face primers I have and what I use each one for
(you can check that post out here). Today's post is about the eye primers that keep my oily lids matte and help my eyeshadows to last all day.

~ Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer ~ I have two of these little samples that came with the Unzipped and Pro Pallet and let me tell you they take forever to get through so I can only imagine how long the full size will last. I really like the consistency of this one, its creamy, lightweight, and completely invisible on the lid. Lasting power? meh. It gets me through a 6 hour day but any longer than that I can notice fading in my crease and the colors on my lid are not as vibrant as when first applied. For those girls who have normal to dry lids I think you would prefer this one.

~ Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion ~ The HG primer of almost everyone in the beauty community. I love this primer and at one time it was my one and only but we began to have a few relationship issues. If you have a darker skintone I find you really have to make sure this is blended all the way in because it can leave a white/greyish cast on your eyelid which is never cute. It is very drying which is great for those of us who have pools of oil in their crease (shamelessly raises hand)  but my actual lid is pretty dry and this can make it worse.

~ NARS Pro-Prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base ~ I really like this primer! The doe foot applicator is great and this product is completely clear! The consistency is leaning more towards a light lotion which allows the product to feel light on your lids. It mattes out my crease and prevents oil but it doesn't dry out my eyelid. When I need my makeup to last all day and well into the night this is the primer I go for.

~ Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion Anti-Aging~ I saved the best for last! New favorite primer. A lot of reviews are saying that its similar to the original. I think the consistency is lighter and more moisturizing but it still has that staying power. Its the perfect mix. Its also not as pigmented as the original so not as much blending is needed.

What are your favorite eye primers?
