The Beauty Bag ~ September

9/5/13

It's September! The transition to Autumn is in full swing! School has started back up and although the weather here hasn't started to drop the stores have not wasted anytime on bringing out cute booties and leather bombers. Being someone who truly enjoys summer I am sad to see it go but I am excited to dive into some fall makeup looks. This month is all about experimenting with eyeshadow combinations, powder highlighters to recreate our summer glow, bolder lips, and pencil eyeliner!

Due to our hot and humid summers, I usually skipped out on eyeshadow or would opt for a lid color and call it a day. I actually forgot how much I really enjoy creating eyeshadow looks, so I decided to pay a little more attention to my eye combos and branch out and use different (but still wearable) colors. Sonia Kashuk has amazing eyeshadow palettes, I did a recent review on the monochrome quad palettes here. I picked up the Eye on Neutral Matte palette and the Jewel of an Eye palette which are great basic additions to my collection. Now that summer(and my sunkissed glow) is gone I can whip out my powder highlighters. I recently picked up Laura Mercier's Spellbound Highlighter, a beautiful finely milled rosy champagne gold that is beautiful on the high points of your cheeks. Another new highlighter purchase is Dior Amber Diamond a cult favorite in the beauty world.

I am also welcoming bold lips and pencil eyeliners back into my life. I have never been one for a bright/bold lip. I am perfectly fine with staying safe in the land of pinky nude lip products, but i have recently discovered rose and raspberry toned lip colors and I am in love. This Laura Mercier Rouge Nouveau in Cozy was love at first swatch. Not only does the name scream fall/winter its just a beautiful raspberry color that slightly stains your lips. I never thought I would see the day where I am preferring a pencil liner to liquid. If I wasn't wearing a liquid eyeliner than I wasn't wearing eyeliner, but recently there has been something so sexy and soft about wearing a pencil liner along the top lash line. Marc Jacobs Gel Crayon does a perfect job of smoothly lining the lid while staying put.

What are your makeup picks to transition into fall?
