The Weekend Recap ~ Makeup Edition

My Friday nights are usually spent at home with a good movie, coffee ice cream, and hot chocolate. I love being cozy at home, but every so often I have to dust off my heels, whip out some sequins, and head out with the girls for a night of drinks and dancing. Friday we headed out to Rosebar, for those of you DC natives it used to be Current, exact same place just a different name. Since we were celebrating a birthday I thought I would go out with a nice smokey eye. Here's the rundown.

I started with one of my recent favorites Urban Decay Brightening & Tightening Complexion Primer Potion. Love the way this product feels on my face. Next I used Laura Mercier TM (oil-free) in walnut, now usually if you know pictures will be taken you avoid SPF  but for some reason this product does not flash back on me. I applied it with my MAC 189, this combination makes my skin look flawless. Used NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer in Caramel to cover my dark circles and Marc Jacobs Remedy Concealer Pen in 6 to highlight under my eye, blended both of these products out with my Real Techniques Setting Brush. I wanted to keep my glowy skin but still set my makeup in place, Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light worked perfectly. For brows I just filled in any sparse areas with Anastasia Brow Wiz in Ebony and set it with Anastasia Clear Brow Gel.

Now the fun part, my eyes! I love a good brown smokey eye, there is something so pretty and sultry about it. I primed my lid with Lorac Behind the Scenes Eye Primer and then applied Laura Mercier's Caviar Stick in Cocoa. Absolutely in love with this product. It applies creamy and is easy to blend out but once it sets it lasts forever. The color is a very dark chocolate with brown shimmer running through it. I applied Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bottomless Java with a flat shader brush and blended it out softly up into my crease. Using my MAC 224 I took MAC Cork eyeshadow and just blended around the edges to have it smoke out even more. I was going to just continue the brown onto my lower lash line but decided it would be fun to do a pop of color. I used Maybelline's Color Tattoo in Blue on By on the lower lash line and then placed Loreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Midnight Blue and blended that out  The effect was really pretty and a nice surprise. MARC JACOBS Highliner Gel Crayon was my line of choice and of course Clinique High Impact Extreme Volume Mascara.

For a quick contour I used MAC Blunt and the IT Cosmetics Angled Radiance Brush (LOVE). Blush was my fave, MAC Coppertone applied with Bobbi Brown's Blush Brush. My skin was glowing thanks to MJ's Remedy Concealer and the Hourglass Powder so I decided not to use a highlight. Last but not lease MAC Cremesheen Lipgloss in Richer Lusher was slicked on and thrown into my clutch. Oh and of course a quick spray of MAC's Fix+, just for good luck.

What's your signature "Night Out" look?
