The Blackout

Finding a good black makeup product is like searching for your perfect LBD. Every girl needs one but its hard to find the perfect match. When I am looking for black makeup products I want the item to be saturated in color and extremely pigmented. If its an eyeshadow it MUST be easy to blend out. Here are a few of my favorites.

NYX Jumbo Eye pencil in Black Bean is extremely black and it has a nice gloss to it which makes it look even blacker. I like to place this down as an eyeshadow base to enhance my smokey eye looks and keep the eyeshadows in place longer. Marc Jacobs Highliner Gel Crayon is my favorite pencil eyeliner of all time, yea I said it, the creaminess, the staying power and the color is just unmatched. It glides on the eyelid effortlessly and leaves a beautiful saturated black line. Favorite liquid eyeliner of all time? Loreal Lineur Intense in Carbon Black....I mean....just look at that beauty. Honorable mention has to go to Loreals Gel Eye liner in Blackest Black, love how soft it looks against the lashline. For a mascara option it has to be Loreal's Power Volume Mascara in Black Smoke, now this is not the blackest mascara I own by any means ( Clinique High Impact Volume Extreme Mascara may be in the running for the blackest) but there is something about this mascara that makes your lashline/lashes look extremely pigmented and thick. It takes my smokey eye looks took another level. When I pair this mascara with my Marc Jacobs liner...no words.

I mentioned earlier that when it comes to black eyeshadows they have to be easily blended out. This is so important when picking a black shadow out because you never want harsh lines when trying to create a smokey eye. Loreal Infallible eyeshadow in Eternal Black is one of may favorite lid colors for a night out (pair this with a deep color base underneath, like a dark purple or blue, and your world will never be the same). It's not too black to the point you look like a panda and the silver sparkle really adds an extra element to any eye look. Urban Decay's Blackout is a really nice black. Its in the Smoked Palette and The Naked 2 palette. This shadow is a tad stiffer than I would like my black shadows to be, but with patience you can blend this out nicely. Hands down best black eyeshadow? Its from the Sonia Kashuk Eyes on Neutrals Palette (the one with only matte shades). A beautiful saturated black that is smooth and creamy. There isn't any fall out and this shade blends like butter. It doesn't go patchy and it lasts forever on the lids.

What is your favorite "Blackout" beauty product?
