Is it Worth the Splurge?

1/16/14

The drugstore makeup brands have definitely come along way in the last couple of years. A lot of the products you find in the aisles of CVS and Walgreens are comparable if not sometimes better to products you find in Saks or Sephora. I find myself asking is this item really worth the splurge quite a lot now days...here are a few items that are...and a few that are not.
~ MAC Paint Pot vs. Maybelline Color Tattoo ~ Both products are amazing at creating a nice base for your eyeshadows, but Maybelline definitely wins this round. They have such an amazing color selection and they really help your eyeshadows last.

~ Laura Mercier Caviar Sticks vs. NYX Jumbo Eye Pencil ~ LM for the win. The NYX Jumbo eye pencils are too creamy to the point that they can crease if you don't put a primer down first. The LM Caviar Sticks not only last longer but they have never creased on me.

~ NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer vs. Maybelline Fit Me Concealer ~ To me these products are very similar and I really don't think you could go wrong with either one. The Maybelline option is a bit lighter and more watery than the NARS concealer but the Maybelline color is a better match for me. For now the Maybelline pulls out another win.

~ Korres Cheek Butter vs. NYX Cream Blushes ~ Hands down Korres wins, the consistency is much more luxurious and allows for an even application that lasts a long time on the cheeks. The NYX Cream blushes can be a bit oily and it doesn't apply as evenly leaving gaps on the cheeks where there isn't color.

~ Dior Creme de Rose vs. C.O Bigelow Rose Salve ~ Another clear winner is Dior. The Rose salve is much more lighter and almost reminds me of a watery gel texture. It doesn't penetrate the lips as well and  just leaves a glossy texture on top that never quite absorbs. Creme De Rose is a beautiful creamy, thick balm that hydrates the lips immediately upon application. This is definitely worth the splurge.

Do you have any products that are worth the splurge?
