Date Night Makeup Edit

2/20/15

Picking out the perfect makeup look for a date night can be a little challenging, especially if its a first date. My number one tip? Go with what you know and normally do. You know your face better than anyone else and more than likely you know what works best for it. Here are a few products and tips I like to use when I want to look a little more put together for a date or a night out with friends.

I always opt for a natural but still flawless base, Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk in 10  does a great job of giving me medium to full coverage with out looking cakey or pulling on my dry spots, but recently I have been reaching for Bobbi Brown Long-Wear Even Finish Foundation in 7.5, it gives off a beautiful glow and is long-lasting. For concealer I would usually just  use my Burberry Sheer Concealer in 5, another glow giver that also helps to highlight my face. If I am in need of more coverage, Bobbi Browns Corrector in Deep Bisque would go down first to cover my dark circles. I'm not one to set my makeup but I always powder where I apply my concealer, and for that I use my Holy Grail Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Dim Light, this helps my concealer stay in place while also giving a nice glow, beginning to see a trend here?

Moving on to eyes, I have to start with NARS Pro-prime Smudge Proof Eyeshadow Base, next up my standard smokey eye. On an everyday bases I try to do some form of a blown out smokey eye, so the technique is the same but I am going to opt for sultry/dark colors. The NARSissist Palette has a beautiful selection of deeper tones that are wearable and easy to blend, I also love the Marc Jacobs Lolita palette for nights out, the dark brown really just pulls every look together. Skipping on eyeliner, I usually just smudge a dark brown or black shadow along the lashline to really smoke things out. The Dior Overcurl Mascara gives the right amount of volume to off-set the smokey eye.

To add a little color I like to reach for NARS Mata Hara blush, it has the right amount of warmth to liven up the complexion and the color compliments Smashbox Lip gloss in Coquette, making sure my blush compliments my lip is a tip I love to do, especially since my eye makeup is always neutral. A little spray of my Jo Malone Wild Bluberry Cologne, (which is almost out...wipes tear), and thats my date night/meeting friends for dinner, makeup sorted.
