Friends in High Places

It's always nice to take a mini trip, out of the city, out of the craziness that is everyday life and just spend some "QT" with nature and some inspiring (and hilarious) people. My best friend decided to plan a hiking trip to Sugar Loaf Mountain for her birthday and we all left saying this was one of her best birthday celebrations yet. We had an awesome time hiking and spending time together, and of course the view wasn't too bad either. Getting to the top was absolutely breath taking and well worth the sweat and knee pain.
We ended the day at a quaint little vineyard close to the base of the mountain. There was wine tasting, live music, and the weather was perfection. I'm sure now that it's Fall and the leaves are beginning to change that the view and hike up the mountain are bursting with reds and yellows, tempting me to head back soon. If you're in the DMV and looking for a mini retreat or day trip, I highly suggest Sugar Loaf, and the name is adorable!
