The NARS Audacious Mascara

NARS claims the Audacious Mascara is a "build-able all in one mascara with an exclusive lash catching brush that separates, lengthens, and amplifies". Ok, lets start with the good....the packaging is beautiful and I love the red detailed accent on the top of the tube, similar to the red accent the brand does to the bottom of their brushes. The formula, is good, its' on the thinner side which allows it to be built up without being clumpy. It's also a dry formula, which I tend to prefer. I just find that drier formulas grip to my lashes better. The formula is also very black and doesn't flake off my lashes, although I have seen reviews claiming it does...everyones lashes are different so take this with a grain of salt.
The issue for me comes down to the brush. The bristles are in don't get the brush too close to your lashes or it will hurt. I am used to getting my mascara right at the root of the lashes and then wiggling the wand up and or blinking onto the brush. I can't do either with this brush or I may not have an eyeball. I have to do an upward motion and avoid the base of my eye for this to not hurt. To be honest I wouldn't mind that learning curve if the brush distributed the product on to my lashes effectively, but it doesn't. It takes me a while to build up the lashes and even then there is still something left to be desired. I have curly- medium length thin lashes, so for those of you who already have the volume and length and just need a bit of extra definition this may be a good option for you. Other wise, I would pass and maybe try out the Benefit Roller Lash, better mascara all around.
